Barbara’s background in journalism, combined with her expertise in business, made communications a natural fit for the veteran publicist. After 17 years at the powerhouse PR firm Rubenstein, where she served as an Executive Vice President, she made the decision to start her eponymous firm. Understanding journalists, as well as clients, has been key to her success, as she believes in the power of relationships and a philosophy that the most valuable ones start with listening.
Past and present real estate clients include Steiner Studios, Douglas Elliman, ShowingTime, The Collective, Jamestown, Toll Brothers City Living, the Tavistock Group, Growing Bolder, Equity Residential, The Collective, the Empire State Building, Cushman & Wakefield, and Macklowe Properties.
Though she headed up the residential real estate group at Rubenstein, Barbara considers herself a generalist, and she has collaborated with artists Tom Otterness, Will Ryman and Jim Watt, as well as the Marlborough Gallery, Marlborough Chelsea, the Museum of Arts & Design (MAD), the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, the New York Botanical Garden, the New York Public Library, the High Line and the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
Her knowledge and expertise in economic development has helped promote Brooklyn’s DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) and Greenpoint Landing, along with Staten Island’s Empire Outlets.
Before becoming a publicist, Barbara was a journalist, covering business, technology, lifestyle, the arts and real estate. She was Assistant Managing Editor of Cosmopolitan and worked previously at Redbook Magazine.
An avid reader, Barbara graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Long Island University with a B.A. in Art History.
